Until Jodi developed autism he ate anything and everything. Since then, however, food has been an issue. He has a self restricted diet which is not healthy and for years he would only eat things that were round, hard and coloured shades of brown or beige. He's got beyond that stage now thankfully but still has a long way to go. We noticed a marked improvement in him after his detox for mercury and other heavy metals and he takes Seagreens® seaweed supplements daily. These not only give him a gentle regular detox but also enable him to get maximum nutrition from the foods he does eat.
Another big break through came with the introduction of In-Liven probiotics into his daily diet, and now he'll eat bacon, ham, chicken, bread and has even tried yogurt and some fruit and vegetables.
I was a bit anxious about trying him on the probiotic (friendly bacteria) because of his gluten and casein free diet as it contains wheat.
For those of you unsure of the connection, people on gluten and casein free diets are unable to break down the proteins in wheat (gluten) and dairy (casein).
However, this particular probiotic is brilliant because it has already been pre-digested by the lactobacilli bacteria -the good guys. That means the protein has already been broken down and as all the ingredients are certified organic there are no synthetic chemicals in it either.
He's still got a long way to go but it's all part of his journey.
