Jean's Poetry
A retirement poem
EDDIE THE MILKMAN
Eddie the milkman’s retiring
You won’t see him anymore
Trudging up and down the paths
Leaving bottles by your door
At 65 he’s had enough
It’s time to take a rest
He gets aches and pains each time it rains
And his knees are past their best
He used to be a sportsman
Cricket was his game
And in the pubs he’d throw the
darts
And sing his way to fame
Now he’s slowing down a bit
Different ball games he enjoys
He swings the clubs and rolls
the woods
With all the older boys
So Eddie now as you retire
Your future’s looking great
Enjoy yourself go out when you
like
And stay up very late
No longer will it matter
What the weatherman has said
It can rain or snow, the wind can
blow
And you can stay in bed!
ENJOY YOUR RETIREMENT
